All Bourne Bridge Lanes Open

All four traffic lanes on the Bourne Bridge over the Cape Cod Canal are open as of Friday, December 16.

Steel repair work will continue below the bridge's road deck until the fall of 2012. There will be occasional times through then that a one-day lane restriction will be required.

Work on the Sagamore Bridge will begin after the winter and continue through the fall of 2012. Temporary lane restrictions, reduced to one lane in each direction, will be put into place in the spring for 4-6 weeks to perform the above-deck work. Also, there will be occasional times throughout the work schedule that a one-day lane restriction will be required to complete the steel repair work.

Message boards, located at both approaches to the bridge, will keep motorists advised of work efforts. To sign up for the bridge work alerts go to the Corps of Engineers’ Cape Cod Canal website and select sign up for bridge work alerts.

For your holiday travel to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, please consider leaving your car at home and taking the bus, plane or ferry.
